May 2024: Details of the Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT) have been released. The syllabus is very similar to the ENGAA except that the section entitled 'Advanced Physics' has been removed. However, I believe it is worth covering these topics to make the most of the available past papers. My prediction is that the ESAT will be as similar to the ENGAA as candidates could have hoped for. My eBook and time-saving tips are still relevant. The question setters themselves may have changed so I recommend preparing material from a wide variety of sources in order to be ready for any differences in the style of the questions.
Engineering Admissions Assessment Preparation eBook.
This eBook is available for immediate download at a cost of £14.99. It broadly consists of the following:
1. Notes on all topics which could appear on the test, excluding standard GCSE material. I recommend that the student merely read/understand these once. Preparation for exams at this level should mainly consist of lots of rewarding problem solving, not large amounts of tedious repetition of notes/theory. The notes contain over 60 worked examples.
2. Suggestions for substantial amounts of relevant extra practice.
3. An entire mock paper complete with explained answers. Its questions are generally more difficult than standard ENGAA problems. This is a deliberate tactic to make the exam seem easier by comparison.
4. A series of exercises designed to improve the speed with which candidates answer the questions.
5. A list of things to remember for the ENGAA along with an efficient and effective method for memorisation.
It is carefully and attractively typeset, is in pdf format and contains over 100 diagrams. It is over 140 pages long.
Cost : £14.99

Here are quotes from students/parents who bought the 2016 eBook (it was then called a handbook):
"Thank you so much for creating this handbook! It's been incredibly useful in my preparation for the ENGAA as it has concise but detailed notes with useful examples. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner!"
"The handbook is great. It gives you the structure you need for preparing for the ENGAA without having to research all the material yourself."
"I was very lucky to have purchased your handbook because there was a question on The Young's modulus, that I would not have been able to answer, had it not been for your notes."
"It was definitely useful especially in terms of quickly revising important concepts."
"The handbook itself was really good. Because of the problems asked there, I could understand what the questions meant."
"I really liked the layout of the notes ."
"Your handbook is excellent."
